2 IIM Kashipur students bag highest ever international stipend of Rs 4.3 lakh

Two students from Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Kashipur have been offered the highest international stipend of Rs 4,38,133 by an international conglomerate. Two more students bagged the highest domestic stipend of Rs 1,29,100 in BFSI sector. The average stipend of the entire batch stood at Rs 49,075.

IIM Kashipur recently wrapped up its the summer placement process for PGP (Post Graduate Programme) batch 2015-17. A total of 117 profiles were offered to a batch of 123 students by 65 companies.

The institute reported a 61 per cent hike in the highest domestic stipend and a 29 per cent hike in both average stipend and the highest domestic stipend.

Speaking to Catch News, Kumar Subham, member of IIM K placement team said, “Several upcoming startups such as UrbanClap, Droom, and Travel Unravel came for placements this year. We look at the long-term and career growth prospects while inviting start-ups. We also have several long term tie-ups with established firms such as ICICI, Emami.”

Some of the top recruiters include PwC, ICICI Bank, Emami, Larsen & Toubro, Cummins, etc.

The highest number of number of offers, 59, were made in Sales and Marketing (S&M) domain. This was followed by Finance, 14, and Human Resources, 12.

Some of the roles offered in S&M are strategic brand management, market research, advertising, content management, digital marketing, in-bound marketing, retail marketing, B2B and B2C marketing, marketing process enhancement and business development.

Profiles offered in Finance were investment banking, agricultural risk, agricultural retail, micro-finance, treasury operations, technology application, security exchange, economic research and surveillance and general finance while those in Human Resource included strategic performance management, talent management, learning and development and industry relation.

Convocation for the batch 2014-16

Indian Institute of Management Kashipur (IIM Kashipur) held it’s convocation on Friday, 18th March, 2016. The fourth convocation ceremony felicitated the fourth outgoing batch of the Post Graduate Programme (PGP) 2014-16 and the first outgoing batch of Executive Post Graduate Programme (EPGP) 2013-15.

Indian Institute of Management Kashipur organized its fourth convocation in the upcoming new campus at Kundeshwari, Kashipur, Uttarakhand. The convocation was the first event to be held in the new campus. The state of the art campus is expected to be operational in the coming academic year 2016-17. Furthermore, the Uttarakhand Government has handed over 5 acres of land at Dehradun for the proposed Satellite Campus of the institute.

Mr. N.R. Narayana Murthy, Founder, Infosys Ltd., graced the event with his presence as the chief guest of the convocation. In his address at the commencement ceremony, he congratulated the students for their accomplishments and urged them to maintain the same zeal of learning to adapt to the changing landscape of business as each one of them had the potential to bring a change in this world. He urged the students to embrace technology and stay updated with the changing technology to transform their roles. Mr Murthy also advised the students to stay connected with their local roots and culture despite the advances on globalization.

Mr. Dhruv Sawhney, the Chairman of the Board of Governor, IIM Kashipur, addressed the august gathering, in which he emphasised on the role which will be played by the graduating students as future managers and encouraged the students to focus on sustainable development as their decisions will have huge impact on society and environment, and not just the organization.

It was followed by a speech given by Dr Gautam Sinha, Director, IIM Kashipur, in which he gave a detailed account of all the illustrious activities that took place in the academic year 2015-16. The students were then presented diploma in post graduate management. Amitava Chaudhary bagged the Gold Medal for his superior academic performance over the two years with Keshav Mishra bagged the Silver Medal and Davinder Yadavbagged the Bronze Medal. Davinder Yadav achieved the All Round Performance Medal.

This was followed by felicitation of students of Executive Post Graduate Programme. Shishir  Shrivastava bagged the Gold Medal for his superior academic performance over the two years and Narinder Jit Singh bagged the Silver Medal.

At the pre-convocation, the evening commenced with cultural programme by Spic Macay. Mr. Debanjan Bhattacharjee mesmerised the audience with his scintillating musical performance. Also, the third edition of the annual college magazine – Revista, was launched by Mr Dhruv Sawhney, Chairman, Board of Governor, IIM Kashipur along with Dr. Gautam Sinha, Director, Dr. Somnath Ghosh, Dean Academics and Dr, Kampan Mukherjee, Dean Planning & Development. The event also witnessed launch of the book– ” Public Policy Agenda – Decrypting Sustainability for India” by Prof Baharul Islam.
